Last weekend, a college reunion took me back to Nagpur — a city close to my heart. Twenty-five years ago, I had the privilege of building StockHolding Corporation of India Limited depository operations here from the ground up.
Walking through Nagpur’s streets, I was amazed by its transformation. Smart infrastructure, metro, tech parks, and incubation centers are springing up, turning the city into a thriving hub for startups. It’s no longer just about oranges — Nagpur is now ripe with opportunity.
As I caught up with some of my old acquaintances I got a sense of the opportunities that the city has to offer.
What excites me most is the affordability and talent pool. Real estate is cheaper, competition is manageable, and government policies are pro-entrepreneur. Startups here can scale rapidly without burning cash.
Nagpur’s story is a reflection of what’s happening across India’s Tier 2 & 3 cities. They’re becoming the new frontier for innovation, offering a perfect mix of growth, opportunity, and sustainability.
It time to nurture all these startups from the smaller cities and help them achieve elevated growth. I am committed to pitch-in with all the resources at my disposal to support this cause.
